Today at task 7 we had the best flying conditions in this week. Damien Tuvo won the day with a flight of 181km closely followed by Urs Dubach. A very interesting final between Kacper Kowalski PL and Paul Tomassi CH for the lead in the 2009 XC-Open World Series.

21:30 Paul Tomassi and Reynald Mumenthaler, the competition leaders, just came back from a 6.5 hr flight towards the East to Avila and back to a landing near Tornavacas Pass West of Piedrahita. Distances were 136km for Paul and 133km for Reynald. The Alpsfreeride red team, flying all on red Boomerang 6, is pushing forward! Robert Machel placed 3rd with a flight of 109km to the South.

The day was a slow day for the patient pilots again. Maximum base of the blue thermals 2500 m. Day winner Klaus Guenter Eberle first flew towards Avila and then went to the South across both mountain chains of the Sierra de Credos. A very scenic flight, but a long retrieve for his driver Edu.

The window was open at 12:30 - It was a day for the patient pilot. Many pilots landed before the Villatoro Pass. The furthest pilots are still flying just before last task time 19:30 at ++100km...
Task 2 - Open Distance via 3 free choosen turnpoints. The conditions were difficult due to a lot of mid level cloud. Most pilots flew zig-zag in the Avila valley.

Good flying conditions with a cloud base of 4000 m - the task was Open Distance via 3 free choosen turnpoints. Day winner was Reynald Mumenthaler CHE with a flight of 151 km, closely followed by Kacper Kowalski POL in only 400m distance. Both pilots flew a completely different route. Best Women on 5th place overall Christine Miller with a flight of 91 km. Many pilots flew up to Avila and had problems to push into the NW wind. Most flew back against the wind for a short distance. The long flights were to the South across the mountains. Many pilots flew their personal altitude record.
